Healthcare Is Driving Up Demand For Tech Professionals

It’s no surprise that IT professionals are in hot demand across nearly all industries. Although we almost automatically think of tech giants like Microsoft, Google, Apple, Facebook, and the like as driving the hiring — and there is certainly truth to that — some of the biggest growth is coming in healthcare. Natural growth in this fastest-growing field is responsible for some of the increase in IT hiring. But a raft of laws including the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which mandates certain digital medical records, has hospitals, insurance companies, HMOs, clinics, even small physician groups scrambling after tech professionals. One analysis of the demand by the healthcare industry showed a 6% growth last year over 2011.
